FOOTPRINTS IN THE SNOW

OK. If this is all the cold, frost and snow we are going to see this winter,

it is not bad at all!!

We had a few days in the falling snow and it is enough,
now I am waiting for the green and listening to the chirping birdies outside my window.

I took some great shots out there in the bogs for the last few days
and that will keep me going for a while.

Now! Bring on the spring flowers and the bright warm sun!

The Essence of Summer

I wonder, what is the image in your mind that reminds you of summer the most?

For me,  it's the summer grass, dancing gently in the breeze.

I can look at it forever and never get enough. Sometimes it makes me wonder if it has hypnotizing powers because I definitely have problems taking my eyes off all the dancing grasses every time I am out walking, in the car or just looking out of the window.

Foggy day in the Bogs

As I was wondering what to share with you I came up with those foggy images from the Bogs in Oughterard, a bit of nature and landscape photography from a few years ago which I haven't shared yet.

I have to say that walking the bogs is a fascinating experience for me, I find them beautiful, exciting and fascinating, especially in summer, and most of the time extremely wet!! So don not venture in there without some wellies and certainly don't decide to cross bog lands on your own thinking you can do it as a short cut!! It is most likely impossible!!!

Believe me, I have tried. The things I have done with my camera!!!!

Anyway here we are in the bog lands around Oughterard, someone most likely will recognize the place, and well done to you, for the rest of you -- enjoy!!

CRAZY CHRISTMAS EVE 2013

It is Christmas eve 2013 and I find myself thinking of snow. Probably I would like anything to divert my attention from the howling wind outside, the flicking electricity, the stone hard hail that keeps rattling the windows and the permanent leak we have in the corridor for the last 10 days!

I am not complaining, I am just explaining, how it is... Well, maybe just looking for sympathy, because I don't like the wind at all.

The autumn and the winter were so fine this year - mild and not too cold, no extreme weather. We had some great walks and I took some fab photos from Connemara's gorgeous bog lands and hills.

But for the last 10 days we entered a permanent storm, it hasn't eased up for a second! We live here at the foothills of the mountains and the weather is always a bit more extreme and a bit colder than anywhere else in the area.
But this crazy storm, I haven't seen anything like it before! Even right now, while I write to you, the wind is howling into the chimneys and surrounding the house with the best surround sound you can get!! At least it is not hailing, but hey! I am sure it will start in a moment!!

So, in defiance of this crazy weather, I will post some peaceful Connemara images from a few years back when the mountains were covered with a thin layer of beautiful fluffy snow that didn't last long but transformed the place into a magical land!

Enjoy and think of peace, calm thought and happiness!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE
