GALWAY CITY secret places

Every city has its own special secret places that mean a lot to someone and sadly nothing to others.

Galway is one of those magical places with incredible lively ambiance and a spirit of its own.
I have lived here for quite a few years and walked its streets with my camera in rain and sunshine, good weather, bad weather...you name it.

I will show you a few secret places and snapshots from different parts of town all taken in the last few years. Some are easy to find, others are not that readily revealed to anyone.

You need to know where to go to see the real secret places

Thinking of Oughterard

Today I was planning of posting something entirely different but then I came across those images of Oughterard in my data base and I just had to work on them a little and share them with everyone.

So here you go guys, here is me thinking of Oughterard:

Sunrise stars on Main street
main street, Oughterard, sun-flare, sunrise, houses, passing cars

Busy summer Oughterard, I just love the flags
Oughterard, main street, houses, cars, people, tourists,

Oughterard, summer, busy streets, people, tourists, cars,

Crossing the bridge on Clifden Road N59
Oughterard, bridge, green trees, houses

The best seat in Oughterard park

The view from the surrounding hills towards Oughterard and the Lough Corrib
View of Oughterard and Lough Corrib from the hills, green trees, summer

A beautiful random house from town
window, roses, door, house, Irish,

Nothing beats a sunset on the pier

Oughterard in July

I have to admit that this year the weather is rather good compared to the last 5-6 years.

This very fact, I noticed, certainly attracts far more tourists than usual. This is vital for Connemara since most of the local businesses rely on the summer trade to survive. Hopefully this year will be good for everyone!!!

So I grabbed my camera last week or so and walked around town to take a few snaps.

Here is what I found. Enjoy. Oughterard in July - green, lush and colourful.

I started out on Cregg Road and admired the green.
