CONNEMARA Cloosh Forest
If you are looking for a secluded spot with verdant pine trees, long peaceful walks and crispy fresh air, this is the place to go. It takes about a half an hour drive from Oughterard to get there, along a picturesque little road that is worth loosing yourself on. I say that because tourists often get lost here. The long and winding road ultimately arrives in Casla, on the ocean, but there aren't that many signs along and if you are not from around here you would think you are inevitably and irreparably lost.
I think this is the beauty of this place. The forests are wonderfully green, the air is always a bit breezy and beware there is often sheep on the road!
Once you are at the gate to Cloosh forest, you can walk in there for hours, literally. There are lakes, trees, more sheep, and more trees.... Simply perfect for the nature lovers and avid walkers.
